Who do I contact about property boundaries?

Our Land Records app can be used for approximating property boundaries. This app is meant to be a representation of property boundaries, but should not be considered in lieu of a survey.

If you have any questions about the content found within our Land Records app, please contact the Real Estate division within the County Auditor Office.

In order to most accurately define your property boundaries, please consider contacting a local surveyor.

Who do I contact about my tax bill?

Linn County, Iowa GIS may have applications that display tax bill information, however we are not responsible for the distribution of tax bills nor the collecting of payments.

If you are a resident of Linn County, Iowa and have a question about your tax bill, please contact the County Treasurer Office.

Who do I contact about property valuation?

Linn County, Iowa GIS may have applications that display property valuation, however we are not responsible for creating, maintaining, or updating a property's valuation. In most cases, any public County GIS application will display the most recent certified property valuation, and not the most current working Assessor year.

If you live within the City of Cedar Rapids and have a question about your property's valuation, please contact the City of Cedar Rapids Assessor Office.

If you live within Linn County and do not reside within the City of Cedar Rapids, and have a question about your property's valuation, please contact the Linn County Assessor Office.

Who do I contact about utility information?

Linn County, Iowa does not maintain any utilities, such as: electric, water distribution, storm sewer, or sanitary sewer. If you live within an incorporated area, these utilities are often maintained by your city, and they would be the point of contact for questions or concerns.

The Linn County, Iowa Public Health department does inspect semi-public/private wells and septic tanks. Please contact the County Public Health Department if you have questions or concerns about your well or septic tank.

Where can I find flood zone information?

County flood hazard information is managed by the Planning and Development department. Information the County has on flood hazard resources can be found here.

Our Flood Hazard app can be used for viewing flood hazard boundaries within Linn County, Iowa. Flood hazard layers within this app are provided in conjunction with Esri and FEMA, and can be found within the Esri Living Atlas.

Where can I get County GIS datasets?

Visit our Open Data site to view, visualize, and download County authoritative GIS datasets. Datasets are available for download in various GIS formats, such as: file geodatabase (.gdb), GeoJSON (.geojson), or comma separated files (.csv).

Use the search bar located at the top of the site to search for datasets by keyword. Alternatively, use the Data Categories section to filter datasets by a specific category, for example: land records.

If you're looking for County imagery, consider viewing our Imagery Download app.  This app provides users the ability to download our most recent imagery by collected tile. Downloaded files will be a zip (.zip) file and will usually, but not always, contain a TIF (.tif) image.

Please note that imagery files may be large (hundreds of megabytes or several gigabytes). The downloaded file size will be noted in the pop-up window of the selected tile within the Imagery Download app.

Can I get a custom map from the County?
